Oor Football Years is a Historical Feature that takes a look back at specific talking points and events that are related to Scottish Football or Football in General, that in some way is related to Scotland.

Scottish Resistance to Professionalism – In our first ‘Oor Football’ feature, we take a wee look at this country’s persecution of Professional Football back in the 1880s.

Real Madrid Kings of Europe 1960 – We take a look at the European Cup Final game at Hampden Park in 1960, that is regarded by many as the greatest European Final in History. Real Madrid ran out 7-3 winners against German side Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Ibrox Disaster 1971 – We take a look back at one of the worst events in the History of Scottish Football when 66 Rangers fans were killed in a stampede on Stairway 13 at Ibrox Park.

Hillsborough 1989 – We take a look at the worst stadium disaster in British History as 96 Liverpool fans died in the ensuing crush at the FA Cup Semi Final match between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest at Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough Stadium.

Argentina 1978 – Our resident Historian takes a look back at Scotland’s World Cup campaign in Argentina, 1978 in which Scotland was tipped by manager Ally MacLeod to come home with a medal.
