A Rangers supporter has been jailed for more than five months and banned from foobll matches for the next 10 years following a clash with rival fans. Graham Hill from Tullibody, Clackmannanshire, was involved in an incident between Ragers and Hibs fans following a match in Glasgow. The incident took place on 20th December 2008, at Queen Street Station. The length of the ban is the longest that can be imposed by the courts and police said that it should act as a warning for other hooligans.
Ch Insp Alex McGuire, from British Transport Police, said, “The BTP officers at the station quickly brought the situation under control before it could escalate and arrested Hill in what we know was a pre-planned encounter between the two sets of fans. With the new football season about to get under way, this custodial sentence and maximum football banning order imposed sends out a clear message that disorder on the rail network will not be tolerated.
“Anyone involved in disorder, anti-social behaviour, or any kind of criminality will have their details passed to those clubs who have already signed an official data-sharing protocol and football banning orders will be sought. BTP will continue to work closely with colleagues from forces all over the country to exchange intelligence and ensure passengers and rail staff can travel on match days without hindrance.”
Kenny Scott, head of security and operations at Rangers, said: “Rangers Football Club continues to work closely with both British Transport Police and Strathclyde Police to eliminate all forms of anti-social behaviour associated with football.”
Last Season, the British Transport Police arrested 63 people for football related offences across Scotland
- although no mention of what clubs they supported were reported.

The Eds obviously back from the battle of the hoops in Benidorm.
There’s another 45 weeks (min) of the league flagg flying over Ibrox, so expect more of this drivel from the G+Gs.

Why no mention of the rival fans who were also jailed or the Celtic fans on trial for murder?
Strange how the constant focus is pretty much one way on this site.

first of all take a look on the bbc webste where the article was sourced from -does that mention any other rival fans? maybe they are being tried individually.
As for Celtic fans on trial for murder – where are they then? where are the incidents involving celtic fans murdering rival fans in a pre-arranged fight between rival fans or even an incident involving fans???

sorry never been to benidorm and never will. The article is related to an incident involving football fans – if it was celtic, hearts or hibs fans or any other footbal fan getting jailedofr footbal violence then it would be reported as well – which it has been.
If your so pissed off about us publishing articles/news on the violence involving rangers fans then take yer fellow rangers fans aside and have a quiet word in their ear not to misbehave. Because its certainly not a mass conspiracy by the media, the police, the courts tid in with Celtic and this website to shame the Rangers supporters. There are individuals within the support that do that without any help – ruining it for the majority who are not thugs or scum.

I hate tourist hotspots and the usual Spanish trips – prefer other destinations myself – when I can afford to go on holiday that is.

Did you print the story about the Rangers fan, repeatedly stabbed by the Celtic fan, in a frenzied attack? Celtic fan jailed for 4 years.
