Motherwell are set to face Llanelli tonight in their first leg tie of the Europa League First Qualifying round. However the Fir Park club will have to do without club captain Paul Quinn, who has been left out of their squad to face the Welsh side as it looks as if he will be leaving the club with both Cardiff and Hearts close to securing his signature. That leaves new Well boss Jim Gannon, with just 11 experienced first team players in his squad.

Motherwell’s new signing midfielder Steve Jennings came too late for him to take part in the game. But goalkeeper Michael Fraser is poised to make his debut after his summer move from Inverness Caledonian Thistle. While youngsters Steven Saunders and Jonathan Page are vying for Quinn’s right-back role.

Motherwell have also lost Graeme Smith, Artur Krysiak, Brian McLean, Maros Klimpl, Stephen Hughes, Bob Malcolm, David Clarkson and Cillian Sheridan from least season’s squad.

Well qualified thanks to their Fair Play record, while Llanelli were Welsh Premier League runners-up last season, seven points adrift of Rhyl. Meanwhile in a pre-season friendly on Saturday, Motherwell tackled Rhyland were defeated 3-1 and it doesn’ bode well for the Fir Park side as Chairman John Boyle continues to flog the assets of the club off to stave off any financial trouble with the club losing their share of tv rights after Setanta folded.
